When Antonio Conte was appointed manager of Tottenham, he was reportedly promised a transfer 'war chest' for the January transfer window.

Spurs are in need of reinforcements in defence, midfield and attack and Conte himself has urged the club to press ahead with transfer negotiations before it is too late.

Twenty-six days into the transfer window and Tottenham have not completed a signing yet, but there is still time remaining to do business.

And, Spurs are likely to be busy over the next week.

Here are five players who could make the switch to North London before the end of the month.

Luis Diaz (Porto)

The Colombian has been in outrageous form for Porto, with 14 goals through the first 18 games of the league season in Portugal to go with two goals in six games in the Champions League.

He has also become a permanent fixture in the Colombia national team throughout World Cup qualification and was a star performer at the Copa America in the summer of 2021.

With incredible pace and dazzling skill, at the perfect age of 24, Diaz could be a major coup for Tottenham.

According to Sky Sports, Spurs and Porto are locked in talks over a €60m deal.

Adama Traore (Wolves)

Traore can be unplayable on his day due to his arguably unmatched pace and power in the Premier League, but unfortunately for the Spaniard he tends to run hot and cold for Wolves.

The lack of involvement in the final third means that he has been in and out of the Wolves team this season, as he has been named in the starting XI on 10 occasions out of a possible 20.

Traore has, however, been linked with a big move away from Wolves this month, with both Barcelona and Tottenham reportedly interested, and Conte is keen as the player would fit nicely into his 3-5-2 system with wing-backs.

Tariq Lamptey (Brighton)

Another wing-back/right-back that Tottenham are targeting is young Brighton star Tariq Lamptey.

A product of Chelsea’s famous Cobham academy, Tariq Lamptey left the Blues in 2020 in search of first-team football. And at Brighton, he has found it.

He also played as a right winger for Chelsea’s academy, but whilst he can fill in there, he’s better slightly further back as either a wing-back or traditional full-back.

Lamptey is wanted by a number of Premier League clubs, though, so Spurs will act fast.

Weston McKennie (Juventus)

Juventus have a surplus of midfielders and will almost certainly let one of them go in the January window.

And Tottenham director of football Fabio Paratici could play a leading role in getting this deal over the line.

The Italian is an admirer of the American, who isn't a particularly popular player among the Juventus faithful.

Stefan de Vrij (Inter)

Stefan de Vrij played 30 times for Conte last season as Inter lifted the Serie A title.

He has had a superb career in Italy, starring for Lazio prior to four seasons at San Siro, and at 29 it is the right time to seek a new challenge.

A deal in January seems unlikely but, since the Dutchman's contract ends in 2023, Spurs could be prepared to offer more now than they would next summer.
