The Premier League is the richest and some say the best league in the world, and part of the reason for its success is the number of top-level managers currently plying their trade in England.

And, a good amount of them are German.

In fact, there is only one more English manager in the English top flight than Germans.

At the moment, Jurgen Klopp is at Liverpool, Thomas Tuchel is at Chelsea, Ralf Rangnick is at Manchester United and Ralph Hasenhuttl is at Southampton.

Those first three names are at three of the biggest clubs in the world, and it is clear that there is something in the German coaching system that enables the country to consistently produce so many top-level trainers.

Pep Guardiola, a colleague of the German contingent, believes their success comes from intense preparation.

“Because they are good”, Guardiola responded when asked to explain the influx of German managers.

“Why are they good? They prepare well. They have teams with quality, they prepare well with the process and the methodology. They have common patterns.”

“Jürgen (Klopp), (Thomas) Tuchel, (Ralf) Rangnick, (Ralph) Hasenhüttl - all of them are excellent managers."

Guardiola's time in Germany

After a hugely successful period with Barcelona, Guardiola took a sabbatical from football before eventually returning with German giants Bayern Munich.

At Bayern, the Spaniard won three Bundesliga titles in a row as well as two DFB-Pokal trophies.

He would eventually move to Manchester City where he is creating another dynasty, but he has credited his time in Germany with improving him as a coach.

“I learned from the league. I learned from the players I had there. The transitions, the gegenpressing," he continued.

“I learned a lot. It is not a surprise to me. All of them are exceptional managers."
