Manchester United and Chelsea have received a boost in their attempts to sign Declan Rice judging by recent comments from the player.

The England international has emerged as one of the finest midfielders in the Premier League over the last couple of seasons and starred at Euro 2020 for the Three Lions.

West Ham are fighting for their first-ever spot in the Premier League top four, but the general feeling is that Rice will eventually be moved on for a huge fee.

Rice was previously at Chelsea as a youth player but was released as a 14-year-old.

He has been linked strongly with a return to Stamford Bridge, with Man Utd also eager to bring the player to Old Trafford.

Speaking to Gary Neville on the Overlap, Rice insisted he wants to win as many trophies as possible in his career, which suggests he might be ready for a move to an elite side.

"I think the main one for me, and I have always said it, is that I don't want to have a career where I've not won nothing," he said.

"I have grown up as a kid and seen all these top players win the big trophies, like yourself [Neville], who won the Premier League so many times and the Champions League.

"Me as a football fan, and also as a player, I want to win the best stuff. I want to win the Premier League - I want to lift that trophy.

"I also want to win the Champions League. I want to win the FA Cup and the League Cup, even stuff with England. I want to win it all.

"As a footballer, if you have not got that ambition I don't know why you're playing. They are the best moments of your life when you win those types of trophies.

"I want to have those experiences of winning trophies and being the best that I can be."
