Zinedine Zidane is increasingly looking like being the man to replace Mauricio Pochettino at Paris Saint-Germain next season – and he could do so alongside Arsene Wenger in the French capital.

Pochettino has reportedly told friends that he will leave the Parc des Princes side in the summer, having failed to piece together a cohesive side from the superstar additions that PSG have made in recent months. If he does depart, he will do so with a year of his contract remaining.

Manchester United are increasingly linked with the former Tottenham boss, having regretted missing out on him previously.

Zidane is the man who is set to fill the void at PSG, although Foot Mercato reports that he does not want to work with current sporting director Leonardo at the club.

With PSG’s owners QSI apparently desperate to secure the former Real Madrid boss, who led the Bernabeu side to three successive Champions League titles, they are apparently willing to jettison Leonardo.

Zidane is not impressed at how the Brazilian handles club affairs and is instead ready to turn to legendary Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger to be his right-hand man.

Why Wenger?

Wenger currently occupies a post in football development at FIFA, although he said in a recent interview that he was ready to return to the club game. The Frenchman admitted that he wants to return to the dugout but added that he appreciates that is probably not the wisest idea and that a role as sporting director could suit him better.

It is believed that this double act would be able to control a dressing room that is seen as cliquey and disrespectful of authority.

This would be a dream double act for PSG, whose eye is often on commercial opportunities as much as it is on strengthening the squad.

In securing the duo of Zidane and Wenger, they would land two personalities who are both proven to be successful at the highest level of the game, but also two media-friendly faces who would attract fans and interest in PSG.
