We may still be some way off the return of the transfer window but it seems as though Manchester United are already getting their ducks in a row ahead of the summer off-season.

According to numerous reports in England, the Old Trafford side have made Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane their No.1 target for the summer transfer window.

The England international was heavily linked with a move to Manchester City last summer but his club famously rejected any advances from the England champions and Kane stayed put in London.

However, this summer could provide an entirely different scenario and one in which Kane may finally get his move to a bigger club.

Manchester United will need a new No.9

It’ll come as no surprise that Kane’s rumoured move to Man Utd has gathered speed in accordance with the Old Trafford side’s struggles in front of goal in recent weeks.

Despite his best efforts, Ralf Rangnick can’t get Cristiano Ronaldo, Marcus Rashford or Edinson Cavani to find the back of the net with any regularity.

So much so that Rangnick recently admitted that the club will almost certainly need to sign a new striker in the summer. And there’s little doubt that Kane would fit the bill.

Can may be keen on a move to Old Trafford

So why would Kane want to move to Man Utd? Well, according to the Telegraph, the England international would be willing to make the move north if Man Utd end up appointing Mauricio Pochettino as their next manager in the summer.

It’s well known that Rangnick will step aside for a more long-term managerial appointment after this summer and few managers know how to get the best out of Kane quite as well as Pochettino.

As such, Kane would reportedly be more than keen to such a reunion at a new club that could help both finally challenge for major silverware on a regular basis.

Tottenham may finally be willing to sell

The final reason why such a move seems far more likely in the summer is the simple fact that Spurs may have finally run out of patience with their star striker.

Although Kane didn’t entirely throw his toys out of the pram when his move to Man City was rejected last summer, his performances for the club this season have been well below par.

To date, Kane has managed just five goals in 21 league games and unless that changes quickly his club may begin to question what value they’ll be getting out of their star striker and instead indulge the wantaway talent by cashing in on him in the summer.
