Memphis only joined Barca in the summer on a free transfer from Lyon and has had a mixed time at Camp Nou.

After making an explosive start to life in Spain, during which he chalked up a goal or an assist in each of his first three appearances, times got tougher for the 28-year-old Netherlands star as the performance of the team dipped.

Following hamstring and Achilles injuries, Memphis finds himself back among the goals, having netted against Athletic Club and Elche in recent weeks.

Nevertheless, with Barcelona having signed Ferran Torres and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in January, plus Adama Traore on loan, there have been suggestions he could depart the club.

“In my opinion, Depay is not a Barcelona player because he feels like Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo. But in reality, he struggles to play at this level,” former Real Madrid player Antonio Cassano told DAZN.

It is reported by Gerard Romero that Memphis has been the subject of interest from Premier League club Tottenham, who have even made a bid for the player.

How did Memphis do for Man Utd?

Memphis Depay is remembered as a flop at Manchester United, where he struggled to win game time under either Jose Mourinho or Louis van Gaal.

While there was a significant degree of expectation as he made a transfer worth around €27.5 million, he was limited in the opportunities that he was given with the club, particularly in the Premier League.

He managed just two league goals for the club in 33 games albeit many of these came off the bench. Nevertheless, it would take a move to Lyon in Ligue 1 to resurrect his career.

If Memphis were to leave Barcelona for Tottenham, then, he would find himself under immediate pressure to perform.
