Aubameyang hits out at Arsenal after brilliant Barca start
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has hit out at Arsenal, saying he has found his home at new club Barcelona.
Aubameyang joined Barca on a free transfer in January, having been frozen out of the squad at the Emirates for disciplinary reasons.
There have been many reports that Aubameyang had a big falling-out with Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta.
The 32-year-old had been the best-paid player at Arsenal on £350,000 per week but was so desperate to leave he agreed to reduce his salary to make the move to Barca.
Aubameyang has had a fantastic start to life at Barcelona, scoring five goals in three games alone last week.
He hit a hat-trick in the win against Valencia, before following that up with a goal against Napoli in the Europa League and another strike in the 4-0 win over Athletic Bilbao.
What did Aubameyang say?
“Things are going very well with Xavi,” Aubameyang told Bein Sports France. “He is a legend and will contribute many things to the club.
“Barca deserves to be in front and I am very happy there because I am at home. I'm Spanish for my mother's sake.
“My grandfather was from Atletico and I just hope that wherever he is, he will be proud of me for playing in the league.
“The league is a good competition for me because it allows me to utilise my qualities.
“When you enter Camp Nou it's something! Another dimension. I really enjoy it.”
It has been a win-win situation so far for both Arsenal and Barcelona as both clubs are looking well-placed to qualify for the Champions League next season.
Aubameyang joined Arsenal from Borussia Dortmund in January 2018 and scored 92 goals in 163 games for the club, winning the FA Cup in 2020.
