Why Barca's pursuit of Lewandowski could lead to serious problems at Chelsea
This summer’s transfer window will be like none other before it, as the biggest clubs in the world fight over some of the best players across Europe’s top divisions.
Indeed, some of the top talents across the continent are expecting to make moves when the season comes to an end and there will undoubtedly be a chain reaction of transfer deals and free signings that follow as a result.
However, one potential scenario in particular that could end up going to fruition involves one of Europe’s best strikers and three of the continent’s biggest clubs.
Will Barca sign Lewandowski?
As exclusively revealed by FootballTransfers, Barcelona have turned their attention towards Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski because they no longer feel as though they are in the running for Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland.
As such, the Catalan giants will make the Poland international their no.1 transfer target this summer and may be willing to fork over a sizable amount of money to sign the Bundesliga talisman.
Reports in Spain have suggested that Lewandowski could cost as much as €50 million for Barca this summer, which would inevitably lead to the Bavarian giants needing to sign a replacement as soon as possible. And that’s where Chelsea come in.

Why is that a problem for Chelsea?
Bayern have been linked with a number of players to replace Lewandowski if he does leave the club this summer, but none more so than two Chelsea forwards in particular: Timo Werner and Kai Havertz.
Werner, due to his record in the Bundesliga with RB Leipzig and then subsequent struggles in English football, has long been a favourite topic among the German press as a potential signings for either Bayern or Dortmund. However, the former are perhaps the only club in Germany that could afford his wages. And as such the speedy striker has been tipped as a replacement for Lewandowski.
However, in BILD this week, lead columnist Raimund Hinko has suggested that the Munich side would be better suited going for Havertz, considering his success at Chelsea and the bags of potential he has still yet to realise.
Either way, if Barca do get their way with Lewandowski this summer, it seems almost certain that Bayern will be knocking on Chelsea’s door and asking some very difficult questions towards their star players.
