How many trophies did Roman Abramovich win at Chelsea?
Roman Abramovich is set to give up his ownership of Chelsea in the coming weeks, drawing a close to an era at the Stamford Bridge side that has spanned no less than 19 years.
Indeed, English football will never be the same after the Russian billionaire bought the London club in 2003 and set about turning Chelsea into one of European football’s biggest and most successful clubs.
Having spent an incredible fortune on transfer fees during his time at the club, Chelsea have racked up a vast number of trophies that would rival any club across the continent’s top leagues.
But just how many trophies have Chelsea won since Abramovich bought the club?
Chelsea’s trophy haul under Abramovich
Thanks to the vast wealth of Abramovich, Chelsea were able to quickly put together a star-studded team that could rival any side in England.
As such, under the management of Jose Mourinho, Chelsea quickly began to hoover up domestic trophies, with back-to-back Premier League titles in 2005 and 2006, alongside two League Cups and an FA Cup over that period.
Competition | Years won | Number of titles |
UEFA Super Cup | 2021 | 1 |
FIFA Club World Cup | 2021 | 1 |
Total | 19 |
Chelsea then did the domestic double in 2009/10 when they won the Premier League and FA Cup, but the real landmark came in 2012, when interim manager Roberto Di Matteo somehow guided the club past Bayern Munich to win a first Champions League trophy for Chelsea.
Chelsea would have to wait another nine years before they were able to once again win the greatest prize in European football when Thomas Tuchel’s side overcame Manchester City to once again win it in 2021.
In that time, Chelsea had also won two more Premier League titles, two more FA Cups and two Europa League trophies, along with a single League Cup.
In total, during Abramovich’s 19 years at the club, Chelsea have won no less than 19 major trophies. Which is certainly not a bad return for any club.
