Amad Diallo’s nightmare – Man Utd wonderkid can’t even get a game for Rangers

When Manchester United attacker Amad Diallo moved on loan to Rangers during the January transfer window, it was meant to be the making of the former Atalanta youngster.
Instead, Diallo’s move to Scotland is turning into something of a nightmare.
While Rangers have progressed to the quarter-finals of the Europa League, where they will face Braga, and continue to challenge for a second league title in succession, Diallo has struggled to make an impression.

The 19-year-old has only managed six appearances in all competitions for Rangers, with his only goal coming on debut against Ross County. Even after that outing, though, he was mocked for a post he made on social media.
Days later, he was included in the starting XI for a vital Old Firm game against Celtic only to be hauled off at the break with Rangers having been obliterated 3-0 during that opening period. Since that setback on 2 February, he has started only a single match – a Scottish Cup tie against League Two outfit Annan Athletic in which he failed to get on the scoresheet.
Amad, meanwhile, has played just 22 minutes of Scottish Premiership football for Rangers in their last seven games. Although he missed two through injury, it was notable that he was not one of the options that manager Giovanni van Bronkhorst turned to during Sunday’s 2-1 victory over Dundee, in which the winner only came four minutes from the end.
The Dutch manager did use his bench, too. Fashion Sakala and Kemar Roofe were both used in preference for Amad for the Gers, who had to win that match to keep their title hopes burning.
What’s gone wrong for Amad?
Amad’s biggest issue appears to be his attitude. Despite his impressive debut, he has struggled to win Rangers fans over since.
Diallo is thought to be lazy out of possession and is not considered to be a good team player. His work ethic is questionable and his lack of willingness to close down opponents is alarming. On top of this, he is prone to pulling out of tackles.
Amad’s loan spell at Rangers may not end his hopes of making it at Manchester United, but there have undoubtedly been some major lessons he must learn from.
