Juventus are only prepared to offer Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba a contract worth €10 million per year, according to Calciomercato.

This complicates the chances of the Bianconeri re-signing their former player, who will have to accept a huge pay-cut in order to return to Turin.

Man Utd wages: How much does each player earn?

Pogba currently earns €17.4m per season at Old Trafford, so will be taking a massive hit on his current salary.

Juventus have been cutting costs – particularly in the wage department – over the past year having been severely affected financially by the Coronavirus pandemic.

They were handed a €400m capital injection from their parent company Exor last year and will again need to juggle their budget carefully this summer in the transfer market.

The January signing of Dusan Vlahovic for €80m saw them bring forward a large chunk of that summer budget.

The Bianconeri have since decided not to renew the contract of Paulo Dybala, who will leave on a Bosman at the end of the season.

Juventus are planning to sign a central midfielder this summer and Pogba is one of the names on their shortlist but Calciomercato say they won’t offer the Frenchman more than €10m a year.

It remains to be seen whether Pogba will accept such a pay-cut.

Pogba’s contract expires at Old Trafford at the end of the season and until now there has been little progress made over a renewal, with one of Juventus, PSG or Real Madrid expected to snap him up on a Bosman this summer.

Although the 29-year-old has had flashes of genius, he has been inconsistent, injury-prone and often a tactical problem since his €100 million-plus move from Juventus in 2016.

After a bright start to the current campaign, Pogba has gone on to endure one of his most miserable seasons of his career. He missed 10 weeks with a thigh injury and has scored just one goal in all competitions.

Having been billed as the saviour and leader of this Man Utd team upon his return from Juventus, the Red Devils have never been close to winning one of the two major trophies; the Premier League or Champions League.

This season will be another trophyless one and Man Utd are currently struggling to even qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Pogba has come to accept that wherever he ends up, he may not be able to earn as much as he currently does at Man Utd.

Real Madrid’s priority right now is in attack. They are set to make Kylian Mbappe one of the highest-paid players in the world and are also hoping to bring Erling Haaland to the club, as well.

PSG can certainly afford to match Pogba’s Man Utd salary, although their immediate priority is also to reinforce the attack given the likely exit of Mbappe.
