Leeds United are confident Kalvin Phillips will extend his time at Elland Road despite interest from rival Premier League clubs, FootballTransfers understands.

The midfielder has been out injured for the majority of the season, featuring in just 12 Premier League games, but that has not put off potential suitors such as Newcastle, Aston Villa and West Ham. Manchester United and Liverpool, meanwhile, have also been linked with the England star.

FootballTransfers has been told that an extension for the player is on the cards but that it will be sorted once the season has concluded.

Phillips, whose current deal ends in 2024, has been with the Yorkshire club since the age of 14, when he joined their academy.

The Leeds-born player’s stock has risen tremendously over the last two years. He performed superbly throughout the 2020/21 season and then shone at Euro 2020, with his performances earning him the England Men's Player of the Year award.

Phillips' agent shows his cards

Phillips' agent, Kevin Sharp recently touched the maestro’s future at Leeds, a club he’s been at since a young boy.

The intermediary spoke about how his client was glad that the Whites turned down offers for the midfielder from West Ham in January.

"He has never asked to leave Leeds in all his time with the club and has no intention of doing that now or in the summer," Sharp, a former player, said via Birmingham Live. "But I understand the offer that was turned down would have been a record for both buying and selling clubs.

"So I would hope that Leeds would honour their promise of a new contract for him which would then end any unsettling speculation about his future this summer."

Leeds are in 16th place in the Premier League and seven points off the relegation zone. Phillips, widely credited as the core spine of the side, has played 226 games for Leeds across all competitions, making his professional debut in the 2014–15 season.
