Real Madrid have set their asking price for Marco Asensio amid interest from Arsenal and Newcastle United.

Asensio, 26, has made just two league starts since February, following Rodrygo's impressive run of form.

The Spaniard has suffered with injury problems over the last few years, and with his contract set to expire 2023, Real Madrid are reportedly set to cash in on the Mallorca academy graduate this year.

He has scored nine goals in La Liga this season, which is his best ever tally in his professional career. Yet, Asensio could be set to depart the Santiago Bernabeu with Los Blancos aiming to sign Kylian Mbappe, and keen to attract a fee for Asensio before losing him for free next summer.

Asensio threatened to turn into a superstar during his early years at Real Madrid, but at 26 hasn't quite managed to accomplish this.

He joined Los Blancos back in 2015 before being sent to Espanyol on loan for the following season. He contributed to 17 league goals, which is a tally he has never managed to replicate at Real Madrid. His best at the Bernabeu is the 11 goals and assists he managed in 2017/18.

With his form impressive this year, Fichajes have reported that Arsenal, Newcastle and AC Milan are interested in the Spaniard.

The trio of teams are all keen on adding Asensio to their squads, and according to Sport, they have found out how much they'll need to pay to acquire Asensio this summer transfer window.

How much will Asensio cost?

Sport report that Real Madrid will demand between €35-40m for any clubs attempting to buy Asensio this summer.

However, with just 12 months left on his deal at Real Madrid, it's perhaps unrealistic to expect so much money for a player who has never been a first-team regular at the club.
