Manchester United announced on Friday that Bruno Fernandes has signed a new four-year contract with the club, news confirmed by FootballTransfers a week previous.

Bruno has been a fulcrum of the Man Utd side since arriving from Sporting CP in January 2020 for €55 million and has seen his status within the squad grow rapidly. Indeed, he has long been considered one of their most essential players.

Previously, though, Bruno was paid as a regular first-team squad member and did not have the big wages of a leading star.

That has changed for the 27-year-old with this new deal.

What is Bruno Fernandes’ Man Utd wage?

Bruno Fernandes has roughly doubled his previous salary by signing his new contract, FootballTransfers can confirm. He earned in the region of €10.9 million (£9.4m) in his previous deal, which was due to expire in 2025.

Not only is he now committed to the club for a year longer, but he has received a pay boost that carries him to around the €21m-per-year mark, offering him terms that are similar to those enjoyed by summer signing Jadon Sancho.

Over the duration of the contract, he can expect to earn upwards of €85m.

Where does Bruno stand in Man Utd’s salary structure?

This new deal means that Bruno Fernandes is now among Man Utd’s top earners – a status his on-field performances have richly deserved throughout the duration of his time at the club.

Indeed, there will only be a couple of players on the books who earn significantly more than him. These are Cristiano Ronaldo, who has a wage packet of around €30m per year, and David de Gea, who reportedly earns in the region of €22.6m.

Previously, Bruno earned less than the likes of Paul Pogba, Edinson Cavani, Anthony Martial, who is presently on loan at Sevilla but set to return, Marcus Rashford and Harry Maguire, yet his new terms carry him clear of all these players, who have contributed far less to the term.

In signing a new deal, meanwhile, Bruno Fernandes has committed the peak years of his career to Man Utd.
