Ajax boss Ten Hag is now the odds-on favourite to become Man Utd’s next permanent manager.

Manchester United have really ramped up their recruitment process for their next manager in recent weeks, with the club reportedly beginning to conduct interviews with potential candidates.

It is widely considered that there are two candidates who stand out from the crowd; Ajax manager Erik ten Hag and PSG coach Mauricio Pochettino.

But Ten Hag has moved into the lead with the bookmakers and one of the reasons for that is because he will cost Man Utd considerably less in compensation.

How much will Man Utd pay Ajax for Ten Hag?

Ten Hag’s current deal with Ajax runs out in the summer of 2023 and the Dutch club will be due €2m if Man Utd hire him at the end of the campaign.

This figure will rise slightly if Ten Hag decides to bring with him any backroom staff.

Mauricio Pochettino, meanwhile, will cost Man Utd closer to in the region of €10m.

However, there is the chance that PSG could sack him at the end of the season given the club’s disappointing campaign in the Champions League once again.

The other managers who have been linked with the Man Utd job this summer are Chelsea’s Thomas Tuchel, Tottenham’s Antonio Conte, Spain national team boss Luis Enrique and Italy coach Roberto Mancini.

Current interim boss Ralf Rangnick has no chance of staying on permanently as manager, having been a major disappointment since taking over from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at the end of last year.

Man Utd look unlikely to qualify for the Champions League and can’t win any trophies.
