How much is Man Utd, Liverpool and Barca target Ruben Neves worth?
There’s no doubt that Wolves are enjoying an impressive season in the Premier League as Bruno Lage and his side make a late push for a European qualification spot.
Indeed, the club have for some time now been one of the smartest operators in the transfer window and that’s perhaps best illustrated through midfielder Ruben Neves.
Ever since joining the club in 2017 for around £16 million, the Portugal international has worked hard to establish himself as one of the English top-flight’s most impressive central midfielders.
So much so that Neves has now attracted interest from a number of Europe’s biggest clubs ahead of the summer transfer window.
According to the BBC, Neves has been linked with several clubs, including Barcelona, Liverpool and Manchester United.
So how much would Neves cost either of the European giants if they tried to sign him this summer?
How much would Neves cost this summer?
According to the Wolves manager, Neves is one of the best midfielders in the Premier League and should therefore be worth at least £100m in the summer transfer window.
"I don't know if it's Manchester United or other teams, what I know is we have a special player with us," said Lage.
"What he is doing this season is very good. I think also the way we play, he can show a better Ruben, and also the way he plays puts our team on a different level.
"When you have that player, the best thing to do is improve his salary and years of contract.
"But who knows, when you have a top player like him in that specific position, that can defend and attack, and is a top professional and a great man, the big teams are there with £100m to buy these kinds of players."
Whether or not Lage is being serious or flippant in his remarks, it’s probably fair to say that Neves is unlikely to cost any potential bidders £100m.
What is Neves' value?
According to FootballTransfers' valuation algorithm, Neves is currently worth just €36m, a fraction of what Lage believes his player his worth.
It remains to be seen if Neves attracts the fee his manager think he's worth, but it's perhaps more likely that an offer between FootballTransfers' valuation and Lage's valuation could be enough to sign the Portuguese international.
