Manchester United’s dreadful run of form can undoubtedly be characterised by the troubled sight of Marcus Rashford at Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon.

The England international started brightly in the match but as Everton grew into the game and took the lead in the first half, Rashford’s presence diminished by the minute.

Like the club itself, the forward looks lost and completely bereft of confidence as speculation continues to surround the striker.

Such was Rashford’s tepid performance in the second half that he was the first to be pulled off as Ralf Rangnick went looking for solutions and a late equaliser.

As such, that now means that the forward has managed just four goals in 21 Premier League appearances this season and it doesn't seem likely that he’ll be adding to that poor return anytime soon.

’Rashford has left me worried’

Indeed, one pundit who called it before a ball was even kicked was former Man Utd defender Rio Ferdinand, who wondered whether the forward had lost his way at the club due to the upheaval over the course of the season on and off the pitch.

“He’s left me worried and I’m asking a lot of questions about what is going on behind the scenes,” said Ferdinand on BT Sport. “Slumped shoulders, not as confident.

“I think it stems from the uncertainty of the football club. The uncertainty with the manager and his contract.

“When he’s played, he’s been out of position and not played as much as he wants under this manager. All those things mean you can understand why he’s like that, but as a player with experience, sometimes you need to put on a show for people that might not reflect how you feel at that time.

“His talent is there, but it’s about getting back to the levels we know he can reach and moving above those.”
