Manchester United captain Harry Maguire continues to come under pressure from a section of the club’s support just 24 hours before a crunch Premier League match against Liverpool.

Maguire has found himself under pressure this season, not only for a slump in form but also because Man Utd have toiled on all fronts.

A team that was expected to challenge for the title when it was assembled in the summer is struggling to qualify for the Champions League, and defeat at Anfield would represent another significant blow to their challenge as they presently lie fifth in the league.

Man Utd fans round on Maguire

Maguire has been pinpointed as a major reason for this, with the England man allegedly at the centre of a dressing room split that also involves key man Cristiano Ronaldo. These seemed to be given extra credence on Saturday as the centre-back was notably the only outfield Man Utd player not to celebrate with the Portuguese after he scored a special free kick against Norwich.

Meanwhile, there are fresh rumours that he has a rocky relationship with goalkeeper David de Gea, who appeared to refuse to pass to him during the weekend’s 3-2 win over Norwich.

Manchester United fans booed Pogba at the weekend at Old Trafford and now they have taken to social media to criticise their captain, with #MaguireOut trending on Twitter.

With the news that Erik ten Hag has agreed a two-year deal with Man Utd, he will have a big call to make over Maguire’s future, particularly as a sizeable section of the support are against him.
