The Red Devils are, of course, an extremely wealthy club, but they have suffered a slight kick in the teeth with regards to income after news emerged that they will not receive £12 million for midfielder Andreas Pereira.

The Brazilian is currently on loan at Flamengo where he made 24 appearances in the 2021 Serie A and two in 2022.

He couldn't have hoped for a better debut, either, as he came off the bench for a nine-minute cameo in a 4-0 victory against Santos in which he got on the scoresheet in his short time on the pitch.

Pereira's consistent involvement in the first XI in his spell at Flamengo led Man Utd to believe that the Brazilian side would trigger their option to sign him on a permanent basis.

However, ESPN reports that Flamengo have not been convinced enough by his performances to warrant a £12m deal.

Unfortunately for the player, he made a high-profile mistake in the Copa Libertadores final against Palmeiras in November, and that has cast a shadow over his time in Brazil.

Pereira was hoping to earn a permanent transfer to Brazil in order to reignite his career after spending years on the periphery of things at Man Utd.
