RB Leipzig star Christopher Nkunku has had an incredible season so far, being involved in 48 goals this season across all competitions with 30 goals and 18 assists.

The Frenchman was also named Bundesliga Player of the Month for March, the third time he has won the award this season. He is in a good position to win the Bundesliga’s Player of the Season gong, which is an incredible achievement in a league consisting of Robert Lewandowski and Erling Haaland.

Sky in Germany have been reporting that Manchester United have shown interest in Nkunku ahead of the summer transfer window, with Ralf Rangnick being a big fan of the player.

Rangnick briefly worked with Nkunku when the German coach was working with RB Leipzig in the 2019-20 season, which was Nkunku’s first in the Bundesliga.

Nkunku has lit up the Bundesliga

The Frenchman has improved drastically this season, working well under both Jesse Marsch and Domenico Tedesco as Leipzig fight for a Champions League place.

Nkunku could be the player to revitalize the Red Devils’ dwindling attack should he make the move to Old Trafford at the end of the season – he’s already done plenty for Tedesco since the manager joined, contributing 19 goals in just 15 games of his tenure.

The Frenchman has scored and assisted in seven different league games this season, more than any other player in Europe’s top five leagues.

Additionally, he is one of only four players to have scored over 15 goals and created over 10 in Europe’s top five leagues – a list that includes Karim Benzema, Mohamed Salah and Kylian Mbappe.

In the Bundesliga alone, only one player – Lewandowski – has more goal contributions than him, as the Pole’s 32 goals and one assist put him one clear of Nkunku’s 17 goals and 14 assists.

This is a Manchester United team devoid of any real creativity, and that has been evident in the last few weeks as they have struggled to score goals.

With Nkunku coming in and possibly being joined by a new head coach, there is potential for a bright attacking line that would include the likes of himself, Jadon Sancho and Bruno Fernandes.

There will be plenty of interest in Nkunku at the end of the season, and after three stellar seasons in Leipzig, it may finally be time for him to take a step up.
