Man Utd, Arsenal or Liverpool? Ranking the contenders to sign Tchouameni

Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni has emerged as one of Europe’s brightest midfielders this summer and is a target for several clubs across Europe.

The 22-year-old is attracting plenty of interest from Europe’s top clubs and could make a move in the upcoming transfer window.

But where could he possibly end up in the summer?

Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have emerged as one of the newer clubs to register an interest in the French midfielder, and reports from France suggest the player is also looking at the Reds as a possible option.

The club believe they can get a deal over the line for a £42 million fee, which would be a fair amount for a player of Tchouameni’s talent and potential for growth.

The Anfield club are well-stacked in multiple positions, but if there’s a position that needs bolstering, it’s arguably midfield, and Tchouameni could fill that gap.

Manchester United

There wouldn’t be a transfer window without Manchester United being linked to a top young player, and it’s no different this year…and Tchouameni could solve many issues.

With manager Erik ten Hag joining in the summer, it’s clear that the Red Devils need a revamp in midfield, and Tchouameni would be a worthwhile addition to the side.

With Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic set to leave, and other options not exactly cut for the level United want to reach, Tchouameni will be seen as a big target.

Arsenal

Arsenal have improved drastically this season, and could end the season with a top four finish and a return to the Champions League for the first time since the 2016-17 season.

With a young core that includes Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith-Rowe, adding in Tchouameni could add to that and secure their midfield for years to come.

The issue would be with their tight financial structure – adding in the Monaco man may not leave funds for other positions that need improving and leaving gaping holes in the squad.

Real Madrid

Real Madrid are preparing for a new era with the addition of Kylian Mbappe and Antonio Rudiger, but need to strengthen elsewhere for an overall improvement.

The midfield is ageing, and they need someone for the long-run, opening the possibility of a move for Tchouameni, who could be the long-term successor to Toni Kroos or Luka Modric.

The newly-crowned Spanish champions have been going for a more youthful approach in recent times, and adding in the French midfielder could help that further.
