Cristiano Ronaldo appeared to suggest during Monday’s win over Brentford that he will be staying at Manchester United next season and not returning to Real Madrid.

Ronaldo has dominated the football transfer news over recent days after it was widely reported that Real Madrid are lining up a sensational €12 million bid to bring him back to the club.

However, Ronaldo’s actions during Monday’s 3-0 win over Brentford at Old Trafford seemed to suggest that he is staying where he is next season.

After winning and scoring the penalty on 60 minutes to double Man Utd’s lead, Ronaldo celebrated in front of the cameras by tapping the club badge on his shirt and pointing to the floor twice – as if to suggest he was staying.

At the end of the game – Man Utd’s last of the season at home – Ronaldo went further and appeared to say to the cameras: “I’m not finished yet.”

This could be interpreted one of two ways. Either Ronaldo is saying that his time with Man Utd is not finished or that, having been written off as too old at the age of 37, he still has plenty more to give.

Cristiano Ronaldo at Man Utd: Goals, assists, results & fixtures

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Ronaldo at Man Utd next season.

Incoming Man Utd manager Erik ten Hag is understood to not consider Ronaldo an indispensable player, preferring to build his team around youngsters.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo himself wants to play in the Champions League next season and that is highly unlikely barring a late collapse from Arsenal and Tottenham this campaign.

Ronaldo has enjoyed another productive season in front of goal, scoring 24 times in all competitions. Only Mohamed Salah has scored more Premier League goals.
