What is Real Madrid target Tchouameni’s transfer value?
Real Madrid are looking to make up for the disappointment of losing out on Kylian Mbappe and launch a bid for Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni.
Mbappe chose to stay at PSG, frustrating Madrid, who had been chasing him for the best part of two seasons. But with that blow comes the realisation that there is still a pot of money to be spent, and so they are assessing other targets.
Tchouameni has had an impressive season in Ligue 1, being one of its top performers in terms of defensive actions and that has raised interest from several clubs across Europe, including Paris Saint-Germain, Liverpool and Juventus.
The 22-year-old is valued at €27million by FootballTransfers' algorithm, but given the bidding war that could ensue, it's highly likely that Monaco will demand a fee far in excess of this amount - perhaps as much as €60m.
This may seem like a steep price for a player that is out of contract in two years and with relatively little top-level experience - but Monaco know that they can start a bidding way for his services and will likely secure a price way about the market value of their player.
Which clubs are interested in Tchouameni?
Real Madrid look to be emerging as the frontrunners for his signature courtesy of the Mbappe rejection, but Manchester United's interest is also strong.
The Red Devils have long needed a player in midfield, and with Nemanja Matic set to depart and Paul Pogba likely to go soon, Tchouameni would be an adequate replacement in a new era for the club under Erik ten Hag.
Real Madrid, meanwhile, are in need of a long-term successor for Casemiro, seeing as they have no natural replacement for the Brazilian midfielder in their squad.
Los Blancos, the recently-crowned La Liga champions, have the likes of Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Eduardo Camavinga, but none can do what Casemiro does so well, and that’s where Tchouameni would be useful.

Other than that, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have recently shown interest in the player according to the English media and are exploring the possibility of a move.
The Reds are well-stacked in every position in their squad, but if there’s one area that arguably needs some bolstering, it may be midfield, as Jordan Henderson and James Milner won’t be around forever.
Tchouameni began his career at Ligue 1 side Bordeaux in 2018, having gone through their youth teams, and moved to Monaco in 2020.
Since then, he has only gotten better and managed to make his way to the French national team in 2021, and has earned eight caps for his country so far, with a spot on the plane travelling to the World Cup in Qatar later this year looking very likely.
