Why Mane could make Bayern Munich transfer from Liverpool

Sadio Mane’s future at Liverpool looks as uncertain as ever following reports that he could complete a sensational summer transfer to Bayern Munich.
A frontrunner to win the Ballon d’Or along with Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema, the 30-year-old attacker has been arguably the Reds’ best player this season.
Nevertheless, despite the personal and team success that Mane has enjoyed, he could find himself making the switch to the Allianz Arena in a matter of weeks.

Indeed, Sky Germany confirms that Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic met with Mane’s agent over the weekend.
Previously, Salihamidzic had indicated that a surprise signing was in store with the summer following his side’s 2-2 draw with Stuttgart at the weekend.
Speaking to the media, he said: “We have to see what is possible and what is not. We have creative ideas.”
Why could Mane leave Liverpool?
It would be surprising to see Mane leave iverpool given the level he has attained over recent years, but the Anfield club are now in something of a bind given that their two key attacking players, Mane and Mohamed Salah, are both out of contract in 2023.
In itself, this is not a particular problem. More of an issue is that both are now the wrong side of 30, so tying them down on a long-term deal when one or both could see their form drop off in the latter stages of their career is concerning. This is a particular risk given Liverpool’s direct style, which demands huge physical sacrifices of their players. Keeping one rather than the other may seem sensible.
This is especially the case given that Mane is reportedly asking for a significant raise on the £100,000 per week he currently earns.
Indeed, given Liverpool’s quality to pick out relatively unheralded talent in the transfer market, they could also be about to show a talent for getting rid of star names at just the right time – an attribute that kept Sir Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United and Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal at the top of the Premier League for so long.
This summer could be Liverpool’s last chance to receive a return for Mane in the transfer market, and a combination of Bayern’s willingness to buy plus Mane’s big wage demands could make it possible.
