Calvin Ramsay to Liverpool: How Aberdeen's demands are holding up a transfer

Liverpool have been busy in the transfer market and notably landed Darwin Nunez on Tuesday - but they are also keeping close tabs on promising Aberdeen defender Calvin Ramsay.
The Reds have been looking to improve their squad following their season that ended with two trophies and two runners-up finishes in the Champions League and Premier League.
They’ve identified Aberdeen’s Ramsay as an option for the long-run, and are close to agreeing a deal for the full-back in the coming days, with the deal being held up by the fee.

Aberdeen are hoping to secure a total package of £10 million, according to reports, and the two clubs are in negotiations over the add-ons that will be paid off by Liverpool in the coming years.
Liverpool were hoping to pay £4 million and £2 million in add-ons to secure the player’s services, but Aberdeen’s increase as a result of rising interest in Ramsey has encouraged them to raise their asking price, causing the Reds a problem.
Aberdeen’s demands have now changed to £5 million as a fee upfront and £5 million to come on later as add-ons as part of their total package.

There has been interest in Ramsay from Bologna, who could lose Aaron Hickey this summer, and they could sign the Aberdeen full-back as a replacement for the player.
Liverpool are keen to sign the 18-year-old full-back as a back-up option for Trent Alexander-Arnold, who plays most of the Reds’ fixtures.
Ramsay had his breakthrough season with Aberdeen last season, and was named the league’s Young Player of the Year after an impressive campaign.
There has been plenty of interest in Ramsay from clubs in Germany and Spain, but Ramsay has apparently made it clear that he only wishes to join Liverpool. Among the clubs interested are Leicester, Tottenham, Frankfurt and Bologna, who have successfully turned compatriot Adam Hickey into one of Europe's hottest properties.
In January, Aberdeen rejected a loan offer from the Serie A club that had the option to make the move permanent after a period of time, and that has worked out well as they could earn more from his sale to Liverpool.
