Inter Milan are closing in on the signing of Torino star Bremer despite the interest of Tottenham, Juventus and AC Milan, FootballTransfers understands.

Bremer has emerged as one of the most admired centre backs in Europe over the past year and he was recently named Serie A Defender of the Year for the 2021-22 season.

This resulted in interest from a host of top clubs, namely Inter, Spurs, Juventus and Milan.

However, FootballTransfers understands that Inter are strong favourites to sign Bremer.

WHO ARE THE MOST VALUABLE PLAYERS IN THE WORLD?

The Nerazzurri have been in negotiations with Bremer for a number of months – and the Brazilian has long regarded Simone Inzaghi’s side as his first choice.

Inter are on the verge of completing a deal to sign Cagliari right-back Raoul Bellanova, and the transfer could become official soon.

Bellanova shares the same agent as Bremer, with the Base Soccer Agency enjoying a close working relationship with Inter.

This relationship has given Inter an important advantage over Spurs, Juventus and Milan when it comes to Bremer.

Base also played a role as intermediaries when Inter signed Robin Gosens from Atalanta in January.

Bremer only signed a new contract with Torino in February but it was with the understanding that the 25-year-old could move to a top club this summer.

His price tag is thus very low given his quality – and he is available for around €30 million.

Who is Bremer?

This past season Bremer was by some distance the best defender in Italy’s Serie A.

Playing in the middle of Torino’s back-three – but also capable of occupying the right or left centre-back roles – Bremer was a colossus for Ivan Juric’s side.

Bremer boasts lightning pace, is strong, aggressive and competitive, and is superb in the air.

According to InStat, Bremer had the most interceptions in Serie A in 2021-22 with 313.

He also had the most ball recoveries in the division by a long way. He had 419 ball recoveries, 27 more than the next highest in Italy – Jose Palomino of Atalanta. He was also third for the most ball recoveries in the opposition half in Serie A. Considering the fact he is a defender, this is remarkable and it illustrates just how good Bremer is at pressing high up the pitch and stealing the ball from the opposition.

His competitive nature means he challenged for more balls than anyone in Italy, and he was fourth in Serie A for aerial challenges won.

Naturally, Bremer is a threat in the opposition box and he scored three goals this past season in Serie A, in addition to five last term. This included a memorable goal against Inter.
