Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips continues to generate transfer news, with Manchester United, Manchester City and now PSG all linked with an interest in the England man.

Phillips may have spent much of the 2021/22 campaign injured, but that has not prevented widespread interest in his services.

PSG are the latest club linked with a possible interest in the 26-year-old, with the Mirror reporting that they made an enquiry to Leeds over the availability of a player who is rated around the €28 million mark by FootballTransfers, in part because of his injury record in recent months.

The prospects of the ball-winning midfielder moving to Parc des Princes this summer, however, are slim.

It is certainly true that PSG could use a dynamic midfielder who wins possession and covers a good deal of ground, but the French side’s immediate problem is that they simply have too many players in that area. Their immediate target is to offload the likes of Ander Herrera, Leandro Paredes and perhaps even Danilo Pereira as they seek to streamline their squad.

This is particularly the case as they are close to signing Vitinha, who was considered to be another central midfield option for the Red Devils.

Phillips, therefore, is unlikely to be high on their agenda, especially given the costs that would be associated with that type of deal.

Although Manchester United have a long-standing interest in Phillips, it appears that he is ready to turn down the chance of moving to Old Trafford because of Leeds’ long-standing rivalry with the club. Indeed, FootballTransfers revealed that Leeds were still bullish over getting the midfielder to sign a new contract in the spring.

Manchester City’s interest has become more pronounced since then, and Pep Guardiola’s side appear to be comfortably ahead in the race for Phillips’ signature – if indeed he does leave Leeds.
