Man Utd’s other striker targets after missing out on Darwin Nunez

Manchester United have missed out on the signing of Darwin Nunez as the Uruguayan is set to sign for Liverpool in a record move, ending months of interest.

Manager Erik ten Hag was reportedly interested in bringing the Benfica forward over to Old Trafford, but he is set to sign for Jurgen Klopp’s Reds instead.

The Red Devils will now have to look elsewhere to fill up that position as they look to get back to their best in the Premier League and return to the Champions League.

Here are five options for them this summer.

Jonathan David

Lille’s Canadian forward had another fine year for the club despite a slightly more difficult campaign than the previous one as the team’s form suffered.

He did, however, manage to score 19 goals across all competitions, including 15 in Ligue 1, and aged just 23, there’s still more to come.

He could be signed for cheap, compared to other options, and would be a worthwhile option to consider for Manchester United this summer.

Victor Osimhen

Napoli’s Osimhen has had a great year with Napoli, this despite injury issues sometimes hindering his campaign at Luciano Spaletti’s side.

The Nigerian scored 18 goals across all competitions as Napoli were able to secure a Champions League spot, and Osimhen was an important component.

He’s a great aerial threat, and links up well with his team-mates, making him a great modern forward, but he won’t come in cheap as Napoli are tough negotiators.

Gianluca Scamacca

Scamacca’s reputation in Italy is only continuing to grow after another fine season for the 25-year-old as he scored 16 goals across all competitions.

The Sassuolo forward is attracting interest from Italy’s top clubs including both Milan sides, and there may be a fight for his signature this summer.

Scamacca is also becoming a regular for the Italian national team as he brings plenty to the table: an aerial threat and good finishing.

Richarlison

Arguably the most expensive option on this list, Richarlison has a proven Premier League pedigree and would be a good fit for Ten Hag’s Manchester United side.

The Brazilian has been a success for Everton, providing consistency in a season where they’ve thoroughly lacked it, and is ready to make the step up.

He does have interest from Tottenham, who are ready to pay a big fee, and they have Champions League football, which may swing his attention that way.

Sebastien Haller

A forward Ten Hag knows well having managed him at Utrecht and Ajax, signing Haller would make sense for Manchester United.

Haller has done well at both clubs when working under Ten Hag and was a consistent goalscorer this past season, even scoring 11 times in the Champions League.

His previous Premier League spell with West Ham United wasn’t very fruitful, but things can be different in a good team with a manager he’s worked with previously.
