Sadio Mane bid rejected: How much do Liverpool want?

Bayern Munich have had a £25 million package for Liverpool’s Sadio Mane rejected, according to The Times in England, in a blow to their hopes of getting the Senegalese forward this summer.

Paul Joyce claimed Bayern bid £21 million plus £4 million in add-ons based on whether the Bavarians win the Champions League, but Liverpool have deemed the offer to be too low.

The 30-year-old will be entering the final year of his contract at Anfield soon, and despite that, Liverpool believe Bayern’s bid undervalues one of their star forwards.

Liverpool have not named a price for the winger, and are willing to wait and see how much Bayern will offer in their ambition to secure Mane’s signature this summer.

Liverpool eyeing up potential replacement

The Reds do, however, want a big enough fee to help them afford a worthy replacement for Mane, as they will look for a player capable of bringing that level of consistency and output.

Liverpool have lined up several replacements, but their core target is Darwin Nunez of Benfica, however, they may be put off by Benfica’s high asking price, which could be over £70 million.

Mane is believed to be keen on moving to the Allianz Arena, having spent six years at Liverpool and won every possible trophy.

He is reluctant to enter discussions over a new contract, and it is said that he is open to experiencing a new challenge away from Anfield in the coming months.

Bayern are the only club to have shown any concrete interest in the player, as they look to restructure their attack following a fairly disappointing campaign where they only won the Bundesliga title.

The Germans could also lose top scorer Robert Lewandowski after the Pole publicly spoke about his desire to leave, and Mane could be the centerpiece of their new attack.

In his time at Liverpool, Mane has scored 120 goals in 269 appearances, winning the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, EFL Cup, Super Cup and Club World Cup once each.
