The SIX Premier League clubs interested in Chelsea's Levi Colwill
Chelsea may allow talented young central defender Levi Colwill leave the club this summer, as Thomas Tuchel looks to add quality to his backline.
The German head coach has been forced to lose two key centre-backs this summer after both Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen left the club on free transfers.
So far, no reinforcements have arrived in the defence, although Chelsea have reportedly agreed a fee with Napoli for Senegalese defender Kalidou Koulibaly.
He is set to become the Blues' second summer signing after the arrival of England international Raheem Sterling from Manchester City.
However, reports suggest that Chelsea are looking to add three new centre-backs this summer, in order to replace the aforementioned Rudiger and Christensen, as well as club captain Cesar Azpilicueta, who is understood to have told the club he wishes to leave in order to join Barcelona.
The Spaniard will only be allowed to depart if an adequate replacement comes in, suggesting that three new additions are likely.
Paris Saint-Germain's Presnel Kimpembe is set to be one new arrival, with Tuchel a big fan having worked with the Frenchman at the Parc des Princes. Di Marzio have also reported that Chelsea are set to re-enter talks for Sevilla's Jules Kounde.
With centre-back targets at the forefront of new owner Todd Boehly's mind, it seems as though Colwill may lose out. The young Englishman's chances of remaining in the Chelsea first-team set-up have been boosted by news than Manchester City defender Nathan Ake will not be leaving this summer, despite serious interest from Chelsea.
But, he could still find himself pushed towards the exit door. Before news of Ake's transfer stance, Fabrizio Romano revealed that Colwill is now "likely" to leave Chelsea on a permanent deal this summer as Tuchel and Boehly are hoping to sign three top centre-backs.
If that is the case, then Chelsea will lose a very talented academy star, just like Fikayo Tomori and Marc Guehi, who both left permanently last summer.
Furthermore, interest in Colwill is far from short.
Which clubs are interested in Colwill?
There is a shortlist of six Premier League clubs who have expressed an interest in the teenager.
According to the Daily Mail, Crystal Palace are now preparing to enter the race for Colwill, joining Southampton, Leicester, Arsenal, Brighton and Everton in pursuing a deal for a player who spent last season on loan at Huddersfield in the Championship.
