Chelsea are eager to close a deal for Sevilla defender Jules Kounde, and beat off interest from Barcelona for the French centre-back.

The Blues are confident of striking a deal worth £55 million for the player, while Barcelona have made no concrete offer for Kounde yet.

The Blaugrana have reportedly told Kounde to wait for them as they prepare the adequate financial package, but it may be too late.

Chelsea have an agreement with Kounde on personal terms, and it may not be long before the transfer is done, but how can Chelsea line up with the Sevilla defender amongst their ranks?

Jules Kounde makes up strong back line

In goal, Chelsea will line up with Edouard Mendy, and they’ve been adamant on him being their number one for the long run having done so well since joining.

The back three will see the biggest changes, as that’s the area Thomas Tuchel has been most intent on improving in the summer transfer window.

Thiago Silva should retain his place at the heart, and it may be his final season as the starting centre-half at Stamford Bridge following a fine two years.

Earlier in the window, Chelsea completed a move for Kalidou Koulibaly and he should start at the right of the back-three, massively improving the team.

And on the left side is where Kounde will slot in, forming a solid back-line that adequately makes up for the departures of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen.

At wing-back, Reece James should take up the place on the right, while Ben Chilwell will be back from injury to take up his place on the left.

In midfield, Chelsea will line-up with the trusted option of Jorginho, while N’Golo Kante is also there, with Mateo Kovacic there to support.

Up front, Chelsea will have new signing Raheem Sterling supporting the attacking, while Kai Havertz and Mason Mount make up the rest of the team.

A lot of this can change in the coming weeks should more deals be complete or if certain players leave, and the saga over Kounde’s future is still ongoing.
