With Man Utd’s summer tour to Thailand and Australia looming, the prospect of him not being available for the opening friendly against Liverpool in Bangkok on 12 July is increasing real.

Now the club are genuinely toying with the idea of selling Ronaldo for the first time, according to the Daily Mail, but how much could the 37-year-old move for?

According to Bruno Andrade, Man Utd have accepted the pressure that the striker has put on them and are willing to come to an agreement.

It is said that they will consider transfer offers of around €15 million (£13m) as a starting point for negotiations. This is around the figure that Manchester United paid Juventus for the attacker last year.

Meanwhile, FootballTransfers’ valuation of Ronaldo is above €30m. This is calculated using hundreds of in-game data points but also factors in outside influences such as age and time left on his contract. At 37 – an age whereby most players are well past their best – and with just a year left on his deal, this is why he is not considered among the most valuable players in the world.

Ronaldo, of course, has completed two of the biggest transfers in history, with his move to Real Madrid from Man Utd in 2009 coming in at €94m. When he finally left Real Madrid in 2018, he moved to Juventus for another massive fee, with his €100m price the biggest in history for a player over 30.

Although Ronaldo has continually justified his enormous price tags, Man Utd are likely to struggle to find a buyer for him this summer due to the financial difficulty many top clubs find themselves in.
