Arsenal target Pedro Neto has admitted that he is motivated by the speculation linking him to a bigger club.

The Wolves winger is reportedly a target for the Gunners as they look to bolster their forward options and the 22-year-old is keen on making the switch.

However, the Midlands side are set to demand around £50 million for Neto, a figure which may price Arsenal out of a move, although discussions have been held between the two sides for most of the summer.

Speaking to The Times before Arsenal had declared an interest, Neto admitted that other clubs being interested in him gave him more 'hunger' but he was fully focused on helping Wolves progress.

“I always like to hear this sort of stuff but I’m focused on my job here because I’m feeling very good here,” Neto said.

“The things you hear makes you work even more, it’s good for you and your mentality to know that people know your value. It gives me more hunger to work harder.”

“The dream of any player is to play in the Champions League. I want to help this club to go higher and higher because I think we have that potential with the way we work, the way we sign players, the way we try to arrive there.

"We were very close last year but it is missing something and that’s something we have to work out between us.”

Will Arsenal sign Neto?

Arsenal are understood to have made Neto their priority signing for the rest of the transfer window but they have outlined other targets should the Portuguese international prove too expensive.

Wolves have indicated they are not planning on selling a player who renewed his contract until 2027 in March but discussions are ongoing between the two clubs and Neto's representative Jorge Mendes.

Having already spent big on Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Fabio Vieira among others, Arsenal are unlikely to sanction a big money move due to financial fair play limitations.

However, a move could be made easier with the departure of Nicolas Pepe, with the Ivorian winger in talks with Nice over a loan move.

While Arsenal are keen on Neto, they will not make a deal for any player unless it represents good value for them in bringing someone who will improve their squad.

Neto is believed to be tempted by a move to the Emirates but is not likely to force a transfer at this time.
