Manchester United have finally fixed their issue in defensive midfield by adding Brazilian international Casemiro from Real Madrid.

The 30-year-old will officially be unveiled as a Man Utd in the coming days after completing his medical following his €70 million move from Champions League holders Real Madrid.

While the Brazilian's exit from the Santiago Bernabeu should allow Los Blancos' new signing Aurelien Tchouameni more opportunites in the starting XI, Casemiro's arrival at Old Trafford will have a direct impact on the current players in the Man Utd squad.

The most notable star is academy graduate Scott McTominay, who is likely to lose his place in the first-choice XI to the new addition.

The Scottish international started the 4-0 defeat to Brentford on the bench, with Fred and Christian Eriksen preferred in the double pivot, but was brought on at half-time as Erik ten Hag looked to stop the flow of the Bees' attacks.

Casemiro will immediately become a crucial member of Ten Hag's squad, and his international relationship with Fred could mean the former Shakhtar man is Casemiro's preferred partner; the aforementioned Eriksen may also be used alongside the ex-Real Madrid star.

While Casemiro's arrival is likely to signal the end of McTominay's time as a regular member of the starting XI at Old Trafford, it could mean much more.

McTominay to leave Man Utd?

While McTominay has featured in 37 or more Premier League games in each of the past three seasons, this could signal the end of the career at Man Utd.

According to 90min, several clubs have expressed an interest in signing McTominay in the wake of Casemiro joining Man Utd.

The report details that Premier League sides Newcastle United, West Ham United, Southampton, Leicester City and Everton are all keeping tabs on McTominay's situation, while clubs on the continent are also interested.

It's believed that Man Utd haven't yet made McTominay available for purchase, but that may change if interest continues to flood in. Any exit for the Scot would reportedly most likely be a loan deal rather than a permanent one.

Fellow Man Utd midfielder James Garner could also leave the club following news that he's been placed on the 'for-sale' list.
