Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo has found himself front and centre of football transfer news all summer due to his desire to leave the club.

Despite being a five-time Ballon d’Or winner, Ronaldo’s options have steadily been whittled away as he seeks a move to a club that matches his ambitions.

The 37-year-old wants to play in the Champions League, which Man Utd will not, while he also wants to play for a team capable of winning trophies.

This has led to rumours linking him to clubs such as Borussia Dortmund and Marseille, yet the strangest report of the summer will take some matching.

Following their qualification to the Champions League group stages, Glasgow club Rangers have been linked with a move for Ronaldo.

There appears to be little substance behind the talk behind a rumour started via Twitter, but that has not stopped fans having fun with it.

Rangers fans react to Ronaldo rumours

This rumour is simply another one to add to the silly season pile.

Even the most ardent Rangers fan would appreciate that seeing Ronaldo in their colours at Ibrox is nothing more than a pipe dream. The Manchester United star commands wages far in excess of anything the Gers could imagine, and he remains adamant that he will play in a ‘Big 5’ league.
