Everton and Wolves remain in transfer talks for Leander Dendoncker
Everton and Wolves remain in discussions over the transfer of Leander Dendoncker, Football Transfers can confirm.
The Toffees had made an initial €10m (£8m) bid for the 27-year-old, but Wolves are holding out for more and want to recoup the amount they paid for the Belgium international before the transfer window closes.
They paid €14m to Anderlecht in 2018 and that is closer to their valuation of the player who now has four years of Premier League experience.
Dendoncker has played in all four of Wolves' Premier League games so far this season, but has found himself on the bench in the last two matches following the club record signing of Matheus Nunes from Sporting CP.
As a result, Wolves could be willing to sell the midfielder before deadline day, and all parties are looking to find an agreement before time runs out.
Everton manager Frank Lampard is believed to be a big admirer of the 29-time Belgium international, having previously considered a move for him while in charge of Chelsea.
Lampard values Dendoncker's versatility, which would allow him to play in midfield or centre-back and is keen to bring him to Goodison Park.

Everton's transfer window so far
Unlike many Premier League clubs this summer, Everton have been relatively quiet in the transfer market so far.
The signing of Amadou Onana from Lille has been their biggest outlay to date, with Dwight McNeil and Neil Maupay arriving from Burnley and Brighton respectively.
James Tarkowski arrived on a free transfer to provide stability at centre-back and has played every minute in the Premier League so far.
Lampard was able to complete loan moves for Ruben Vinagre and Conor Coady, but is still keen to strengthen before the deadline.
Everton's sale of Richarlison to Tottenham was their only source of income in the transfer market with numerous players leaving for free or on loan.
