How Rabiot’s mother threatens to derail Man Utd move
Adrien Rabiot’s transfer to Manchester United is at risk of falling through unless his mother and agent lowers her astronomical demands.
Man Utd are currently in negotiations for the Juventus midfielder.
It is widely understood that Juventus and Man Utd have agreed on a transfer fee worth €18 million plus €6m in add-ons.
All that is required to complete the move is for Rabiot to agree personal terms.
However, according to top Italian transfer journalist Niccolo Schira, this is providing difficult.
Rabiot is already a high earner at Juventus as he takes home €7m per year.
This made him the third highest earner at Juve last season.
The 27-year-old is requesting a raise on his salary but it’s his mother’s demands that are proving problematic.
Who is Veronique Rabiot?
Rabiot’s mother and agent Veronique is said to be demanding a huge commission for taking her son to Man Utd.
She is also requesting a massive signing-on bonus.
Negotiations are continuing as Man Utd desperately try to bring in a new central midfielder, having virtually ended any hope of signing primary target Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona.
Man Utd have been working on De Jong for much of the summer but the midfielder is reluctant to move to Old Trafford due to their on-pitch struggles.
The Red Devils endured a bad start to the season on Sunday as they lost 2-1 to Brighton at home in Erik ten Hag’s first game in charge.
Star player Cristiano Ronaldo has also put a transfer request in to leave before the end of the window.
