Over the last week, reports have emerged about the French champions’ interest in Rashford, and they’re looking to take it a step forward before the close of the window.

PSG have had positive discussions with Rashford’s camp, and are encouraged to make a move this year, and Manchester United will want a big fee for the player.

Their new sporting advisor – Luis Campos – who has attempted to rejig the team this summer, still sees value in Rashford despite a difficult year for the Englishman.

PSG wish for Rashford and Mbappe

Rashford had a complicated 2021-22 season, scoring just four league goals, and was part of a struggling Manhcester United attack that contributed to the team’s sixth-place finish.

Campos, though, believes that Rashford’s development has been hindered by the constant change in management and alterations to the player’s role under the various managers he has had.

He thinks he’ll get more out of him with his development as an elite forward, and would benefit from pairing up with talented names like Mbappe and Lionel Messi.

PSG see Mbappe and Rashford as the long-term project, with Messi’s contract expiring next year and Neymar’s future in the French capital still unclear, despite a good start to the season.

Both Mbappe and Rashford are believed to have a positive relationship between themselves, and there’s hope that it can be replicated on the pitch, should the Manchester United forward move to France.

Campos wishes to build a two-man forward line with Mbappe and Rashford – an appealing prospect to manager Christophe Galtier and the player himself.

This isn’t the first time PSG have shown interest in Rashford – they first expressed their desire to sign him back when Thomas Tuchel was still their manager, before his sacking in 2020.

The club have admired his qualities, and still think he’s of the right age to only get better in the coming years, as he approaches his peak.
