Man Utd set for 'staggering week' of £250m transfer deals
Manchester United are planning a big end to the transfer window to make up for their poor start to the season and they plan to bring in at least three new players.
According to Anil Kandola from TalkSport, Manchester United have to be braced for a 'staggering week' of £250 million worth of transfer deals to close the transfer window.
The club have already agreed a deal with Real Madrid for the transfer of midfielder Casemiro and he could make his debut for them over the weekend against Southampton.
They’re also targeting other players, including a new forward, winger, another midfielder and possibly a goalkeeper to provide competition to the out-of-form David de Gea.
Man Utd planning big end to window
United have targeted two of the Eredivisie’s best attacking players in Antony and Cody Gakpo in recent weeks to add to their attacking depth.
Erik ten Hag is known to be an admirer of both, having managed Antony before and having seen Cody Gakpo’s talents first-hand as the Dutchman shone for PSV.
Ajax are demanding a fee of around €100 million for Antony, having previously rejected a bid worth around €80 million for the flying Brazilian winger.
PSV, meanwhile, are hoping to get about €40 million for Gakpo, as he rose to become the Dutch Footballer of the Year last season, doing well for the Eindhoven side.
United are also hoping to get a deal over the line for Frenkie de Jong, who has been their top target since Ten Hag joined the club, having begun negotiations for him in May.
They will be competing with Chelsea for the Dutchman’s signature, while there’s also the issue of getting the situation around his deferred wages resolved before he can make a transfer.
Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is another player linked with Manchester United, but there haven’t been any concrete offers for the Serb from the English club.
Recently, there have also been links to Borussia Monchengladbach goalkeeper Yann Sommer to compete with De Gea, as Ten Hag hopes to have a goalkeeper who’s more competent with his feet.
There will be a busy end to the transfer window as the club look to get over their difficult start to the season and rejuvenate the squad for the remainder of the campaign.
