Erik ten Hag is reportedly driving the move for Antony, with the Dutch head coach keen to be reunited with the 22-year-old after spending time together at Ajax.

Despite signing Jadon Sancho last summer, Man Utd are still in the market for a new right-winger, and Antony is reportedly top of their list to fill that void. In fact, despite seeing an €80m offer for the Brazilian turned down by Ajax, it's been reported that Man Utd are prepared to submit an improved bid of €100m (an initial €80m plus €20m in add-ons) in an attempt to convince Ajax to sell.

It's understood that Ajax may accept an improved offer for Antony, but the Eredivisie giants are in a position of strength having already sold Ryan Gravenberch, Lisandro Martinez and Sebastien Haller this summer, while Andre Onana and Noussair Mazraoui have also left the club.

However, Man Utd appear desperate to land the player this summer, with Ten Hag looking to rectify a poor start to the 2022-23 Premier League season.

Lisandro Martinez, Tyrell Malacia and Christian Eriksen have all been signed so far this summer, while and agreement has reportedly been reached for the signing of Real Madrid's Casemiro. PSV's Cody Gakpo remains a target, with Man Utd expected to launch a formal bid for the Dutch international.

Antony is still a key transfer target, and according to Foot Mercato, Man Utd are willing to offer €100m in order to seal a deal for the Brazilian. But is he worth that much?

Antony's value

According to FootballTransfers’ algorithm, which calculates the value of a player by assessing hundreds of in-game data points as well as external factors such as age and contract length, Ajax would be receiving far more money than Antony is worth if Man Utd do decide to bid €100m for him.

Our algorithm values Antony at just €36m, which is far less it seems Man Utd are willing to spend.

The Brazilian scored eight goals and assisted four in 23 Eredivisie appearances during the 2021-22 season, and notched a further six goal contributions in just seven Champions League games last campaign.
