The summer transfer window has been dominated by Cristiano Ronaldo’s desire to leave Manchester United, and it’s set to continue in the final weeks of the market.

In June, Ronaldo made it clear he wanted to leave Manchester United, wanting to go to a club where he could play Champions League football and compete for trophies.

A move hasn’t materialized, with clubs backing out due to the player’s age, tactical fit in respective teams and high cost of the operation, which has led him to start the season at Old Trafford.

He’s been involved in both Manchester United defeats this season, starting the weekend’s fixture against Brentford, which ended in a 4-0 hammering.

Ronaldo's behaviour isn't helping

It’s now been seen over the two matches that Ronaldo has broken promises he made at the end of last season, and his behaviour and demeanour has been met with criticism.

At the end of the 2021-22 campaign, he was positive he could help United get back to being one of the best in England and Europe: "Let’s believe that next year we are going to win trophies. I believe that Manchester [United] will be where they belong. Sometimes it takes time, but I still believe."

However, his actions have shown the opposite, as he is often seen angry and unhappy in the squad, further showing his desire to leave the club.

It’s also been reported that he’s been sulking in training and unwilling to accept Ten Hag’s training methods, which is a worrying sign.

At a time where Manchester United need their players to stick together, the club’s top scorer from last season hasn’t made the best impression, and that could impact the rest of the squad even further.

After the defeat to Brentford, it was also noted that Ronaldo didn’t go to the travelling fans to applaud them and didn’t acknowledge Ten Hag on the way to the dressing room.

It was later reported that United were considering terminating the 37-year-old’s contract if things didn’t improve, but those stories were denied by the club.
