From Rejectnaldo to Benchnaldo - Fans react to Cristiano Ronaldo's Man Utd benching
Erik ten Hag's decision to bench Cristiano Ronaldo for the first game of the Premier League season saw the Manchester United legend nicknamed 'Benchnaldo' as fans took to social media to react to the decision.
Ronaldo has been looking for a way out of Old Trafford and will be seated nearer the exit as he was not chosen in Ten Hag's first Premier League starting XI.
Despite Man Utd's lack of depth up front, the new boss chose not to play with a recognised striker, with Ronaldo having only played 45 minutes in pre-season.
Opposition fans took the opportunity to mock Ronaldo, who had posted on Instagram that he was "ready" the evening before the game.
