Arsenal have spent plenty of money over the last two summers, bringing in eleven players in a bid to refresh their squad and challenge to return to the Champions League.

The Gunners have spent around £270 million over the last two years and haven’t brought that much back in sales of players, raising concerns that the club may be hit by sanctions related to the breach of Financial Fair Play regulations.

Manager Mikel Arteta, though, is adamant the club are staying in line and that they aren’t in trouble, as others across Europe have been hit by fines.

Some of Arsenal’s Premier League rivals are on a watchlist over the breach of rules, while clubs across Europe like Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus have been hit by fines over the week.

Arteta calm on FFP worries

"We are compliant and have heard nothing so I don’t know what that is," Arteta said as he spoke on the situation this past week.”

He added: "I think the club has been very disciplined all the time and with a very clear vision of how we want to do things, the limitations we have and how we have to deal with things. In that case, nothing changes."

Domestically, the likes of Manchester City, Leicester City, West Ham United and Chelsea have been placed on a watchlist about their spending, relative to how much they earn.

According to The Times, though, Arsenal risk joining that watchlist in the near future if their spending and financial outlay relative to income, isn’t improved soon.

The only reason Arsenal weren’t on the watchlist this year was because of Arsenal not playing in Europe at all last season, having missed out on Champions League and Europa League football.

The eight clubs that were fined by UEFA were French trio Paris Saint-Germain, Monaco, Marseille, Italian giants Milan, Juventus, Roma, Inter and Turkish Super Lig side Besiktas.
