Leicester City may consider selling midfielder Youri Tielemans to Newcastle United in January as it could be their final chance to receive a fee for the player.

Tielemans has been linked to a host of clubs over the last year and is in the final months of his contract at Leicester City, which means the Foxes may cash in to make some money in January.

Arsenal and Manchester United have maintained an interest in Tielemans, but neither made a concrete move for the Belgian, prioritizing other targets instead.

Newcastle could swoop for Tielemans and get him on a cut-price deal in January, which may force other suitors to act as well.

Tielemans could move to Newcastle

Arsenal were heavily interested in the player and at one point in the summer, it seemed as though Tielemans would move to the Gunners as Mikel Arteta hoped to improve his midfield.

Leicester weren’t keen on budging on their demanded price, however, as they were reportedly asking for a fee of around £35 million, something Arsenal weren’t keen on paying for a player that had a year left on his deal.

They ended up focusing on other targets in the window, too, with Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa targeted before looking at more creative options towards the end of the transfer period.

Manchester United are also keeping tabs on the situation with a view to improving their midfield and supporting Christian Eriksen, who has had a fine start to life at Old Trafford.

They were interested in Frenkie de Jong but a move from Barcelona is difficult to complete, forcing them to look elsewhere, and Tielemans may be their man.

Newcastle could take advantage if neither club acts in the future and they could get the Belgian for as little as £15 million in January, with a contract extension at Leicester looking unlikely.
