Revealed: Arsenal and Man Utd target Ruben Neves was close to leaving

Arsenal target Ruben Neves has spoken about the summer transfer window, amidst rumours suggesting he could’ve left Wolves in the last few months.
Neves was subject to several transfer rumours over the summer, linking him with moves to Manchester United and Arsenal, but he has stayed on for another season at Wolves.
No club made a firm offer for the Portuguese midfielder, and that meant Neves will play at Molinuex until at least the next transfer window, and hope to help his side return to Europe.
Now, Neves has spoken on his decision to stay and what he hopes to achieve with Bruno Lage’s team in the coming months at the club.

The Portugal international said: "There are no secrets with that. I had a chance to go, I didn't go, and I stayed, and I will give 200 per cent for this club because they have given me a lot."
Neves has the ability to play in various roles across the midfield, which made him a top target amongst many clubs, and the fact that he hasn’t yet signed a new contract gave others encouragement.
Neves has two years remaining on his deal – which means next season will be his final contracted season with Wolves, and clubs elsewhere continue to pay attention to the situation.

Arsenal were keen to bring him in to shore up their midfield options, while Manchester United need to add more depth to their team, making Neves a target.
Lage, though, previously spoke about Neves’ importance to his side and that he wishes to keep him for the long-run: "I don't know if it's Man Utd or other teams. What I know is we have a special player here with us.”
He added: "When you have that player, the best thing to do is improve his salary and years of contract,” suggesting that Wolves were looking to extend his deal.
“When you have a top player like him in that specific position, that can defend and attack, and is a top professional and a great man, the big teams are there with £100 million to buy these kinds of players," Lage concluded.
What happens in this situation remains to be seen as Neves continues to perform for Wolves, and other across England and Europe pay attention to his situation.
