Chelsea shockingly sacked Thomas Tuchel last week in a move that signalled the intentions of new co-owner Todd Boehly, having spent a record sum in the transfer window.

The sacking came after a complicated start to the season that was added to by the Champions League group stage defeat to Dinamo Zagreb in Croatia.

The Blues had won three, lost two and drawn one of their opening six Premier League fixtures, and that wasn’t enough for Tuchel to keep hold of his job.

Now, two players are keeping an eye on the situation and their futures, as they hope to secure long-term stays at Stamford Bridge for the years to come.

Kante and Jorginho unhappy with terms

N’Golo Kante rejected Chelsea’s initial contract offer, with his current deal expiring at the end of the season, allowing him to leave the Blues on a free.

Kante was offered a two-year deal with the option to extend for a third, but that was turned down by the Frenchman has he wanted a longer offer to remain at Chelsea.

The midfielder was offered a three-year contract by Roman Abramovich last season, but talks didn’t progress as the Russian sold the club following UK sanctions on him.

New boss Boehly doesn’t believe Kante deserves a long stay considering his recent fitness record, although the player himself believes he should be getting more and thinks he can contribute to the squad in the coming years.

Other than that, Jorginho is on the same boat, with his contract also running out at the end of the season, giving him permission to leave the club on a free at the end of the campaign.

Chelsea already lost the likes of Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger on free transfers last season, and wouldn’t want to lose more important players for nothing in this campaign, risking the ire of the supporters.
