'You're f*****g nobody!' - How Martinez forced Man Utd move
Lisandro Martinez completed a move from Ajax to Manchester United over the summer, and despite being a favourite amongst the club, he didn’t end on the best of terms.
Martinez was coach Erik ten Hag’s third signing at Manchester United this season after Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord and Christian Eriksen on a free transfer.
The two clubs were involved in negotiations for weeks, with Manchester United eventually agreeing to pay Ajax’s demanded fee of €57.37 million, plus €10 million in future add-ons.
It also required Martinez to force the move as he was ready to move on from Ajax and join his former boss at Old Trafford, where he has had a positive start to life.
Martinez was eager to force transfer
Martinez was named Ajax’s Player of the Season last season after an impressive campaign at the heart of defence for the Dutch champions, prompting interest from abroad.
There were offers turned down by Arsenal, before Manchester United and Ten Hag came calling, and Martinez attempting to force the move the Red Devils.
According to reports in De Telegraaf, Martinez even squared up to an Ajax official in the hopes of getting a transfer to Manchester United completed.
The report says that he went face to face with Ajax transfer chief Gerry Hamstra, who works with former forward Klaas-Jan Huntelaar on completing incomings and outgoings at the club.
On the right track!!

He reportedly told Hamstra ‘you’re a f***ing nobody’ and that he is “alone” since the departure of former transfer chief Marc Overmars, who left the club in disgrace back in February.
Martinez completed a transfer to Manchester United just days after this incident reportedly took place and has had a few positive weeks with the club in recent times.
Ten Hag’s team had a tough start to the season following losses to Brighton and Brentford, but things have picked up after wins over Liverpool and Southampton.
Manchester United have also been in discussions with Ajax later on, having recently agreed a deal with them to sign Antony, who also had to demand a transfer by skipping training.
