Ronaldo has yet to open his account so far this campaign and has started only one of Man Utd’s six games.

He has started on the bench in United’s last four games, which have all resulted in victories for Erik ten Hag’s men.

That includes the 3-1 victory over Arsenal on Sunday.

This suggests that Ronaldo is not going to return to the United starting XI any time soon.

How many goals will Ronaldo score this season?

A majority 61.5 per cent of FootballTransfers’ followers voted that Ronaldo will score one to 10 goals this season.

The second most popular option saw 16.1% vote that Ronaldo will score 11-20 goals.

As many as 15.9% believed that Ronaldo would not even score a single goal this season.

Finally, only 6.5% thought that Ronaldo could match last year’s performance and score more than 20 goals.

Ronaldo put in a transfer request to leave Man Utd this past summer.

The Portuguese superstar wanted to join a club that is in the Champions League and can challenge for major trophies.

His agent Jorge Mendes offered him out to numerous clubs around Europe, without finding a taker.

Ronaldo chose not to go on tour with Man Utd during the summer, citing family reasons.

He did not begin training again until the last week of pre-season, playing just one friendly match against Rayo Vallecano.

He caused controversy during that game by leaving Old Trafford before the match had finished.

His attitude and body language were also called into question during the first two Premier League matches of the season, a 2-1 home defeat to Brighton and 4-0 loss at Brentford.

United have since won four games in a row without him in the starting XI, suggesting this could be a frustrating campaign in which Ronaldo is a bit-part player.
