Man Utd offer Rashford new contract to ward off PSG
Manchester United are set to reward Marcus Rashford’s great start to the season by opening talks over a new contract for him in the coming weeks.
Rashford has begun the season in impressive form, providing three goals and two assists in Manchester United’s first six games and has played a big role in their revived form over the last four games.
There were rumours earlier in the summer that Rashford considered leaving the club for the first time, as his representatives even had discussions with Paris Saint-Germain.
PSG are believed to be huge admirers of Rashford, as sporting advisor Luis Campos believes he can get the best out of the Englishman in the French capital.
Man Utd prepared to open talks
Manchester United, though, are keen to ward off any interest and are prepared to open discussions over a new long-term contract soon.
Rashford’s current contract expires at the end of the season, but the club have an option to extend for a further season, however, they want to take it beyond that period.
Manager Erik ten Hag has also recently discussed the situation: “Definitely [in his long-term plans]. I don’t think he’s out of contract and I think United control the situation.”
“I see a happy Marcus Rashford, I see some phases in his game we could improve and we worked really hard the last two and a half months with him on different aspects and he really likes it.

“He wants to transfer it to the pitch. It starts with happiness, he comes in every day smiling,” Ten Hag added, after the win over Arsenal at the weekend, where he scored twice and provided one assist.
Rashford had a difficult 2021/22 campaign as Manchester United sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and he wasn’t able to get his form back under Ralf Rangnick.
He scored five goals last season, but hadn’t scored in a match since January until his goal against Liverpool last month, as his form – as well as the entire team’s – was massively disrupted.
This campaign has started positively, though, and he’ll be hoping to keep up this form for the rest of the season as Ten Hag’s side look to return to the Champions League.
