The future of Marcus Rashford has been in question for a few weeks, with the player entering the final year of his contract at Manchester United, and there is a new club interested in him.

Rashford has had a fine start to the season, scoring three goals and providing two assists in Manchester United’s opening six league games as his side recovered from a slow start to the campaign.

There was even a belief that he would be rewarded with a return to the England set-up having been dropped last season, but an injury has prevented that opportunity.

Now, there’s claims from Spain that he could be on the move to the Iberian nation, with Atletico Madrid reportedly interested in the Manchester United number 10.

Rashford of interest to Atletico Madrid

Earlier in the summer, it was reported that Paris Saint-Germain were interested in the player, and had opened discussions with the player’s representatives over a future move.

The French champions’ sporting advisor, Luis Campos, is an admirer of the player and felt he’d thrive in Paris alongside Kylian Mbappe, but a move never truly materialized.

Now, they may face competition from Atletico Madrid, who are keeping an eye on his contract situation, amidst belief they can get him on a free next year.

The Spanish club has Antoine Griezmann on loan from Barcelona, but have been restricting his minutes in order to avoid signing him permanently, as they aren’t keen on paying €40 million for a forward who is getting older.

They want Rashford to take over from him, but will face competition from others if they want to sign him, as well as Manchester United’s strong interest in extending his stay at the club.

In recent days, Griezmann has been linked with a move to Manchester United, as the Red Devils themselves are looking to improve their attacking options.

Rashford’s form has been impressive in this campaign and he’s settling well into life under Erik ten Hag, doing well enough in his forward role and keeping Cristiano Ronaldo out of the team.
